Testimony: Tools for Me and My Family

by Jennifer Polatis
I was given Daughters in My Kingdom and under the circumstances set it aside. I told myself that I would and could just get to it later. The funny thing is, is that I got called to be a Relief Society Historian and still had yet to read it... that very next day I started reading! I made sure that I had a pen and highlighter, for I knew that I was going to need it!
I am so thankful for Christ, and the life that He led and that He died for me.
I loved reading about the beginnings of the Relief Society; I’ve never really paid much attention to the details. Joseph Smith was a wonderful prophet, and of course his wife just as incredible. I appreciate her drive and enthusiasm and how she would buoy up the women around her to serve.

I try to set a good example for my daughters by serving others, doing my visiting teaching and not speaking ill of others...I have to say that along with serving others I have to allow other people to serve me as well, not an easy thing for me.

The women that I visit teach are so wonderful! I have such a special relationship with them and they know that if needed they can call on me for anything. I love them and all the sisters with all my heart. I’m proud to say that I am a member of the Relief Society.

I also love that the Proclamation was brought about. It is such a powerful tool for us as families to use and reflect on... It is so special that we have so many tools available to us as families to make our lives here on this earth not so complicated. I am so impressed that we as women were given this first to share with our family. The world has “shifting values,” turmoil, and around every corner the testing of our standards as women and also our young women and men.

I am thankful for our prophet. I am thankful for our stake president. I am thankful for our bishop. I pray for them and hope that they feel my love. I am thankful for my husband and the wonderful priesthood holder that he is. I love how he loves me and loves our children and is such a great example of how to be a good missionary. Thank you so much for the opportunity to share my thoughts. I am so thankful for Christ, and the life that He led and that He died for me. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
